The Chief Justice has now issued an order that extends Supreme Court deadlines by 30 days.  The order says it applies to “Supreme Court proceedings in which the deadline for any action in the California Rules of Court occurs between March 20, 2020, through and including April 20, 2020.”

The order was made under rule 8.66(a)(2), which allows the Chief Justice, as Judicial Council Chair, to “[a]uthorize specified courts to extend by no more than 30 additional days the time to do any act required or permitted under these rules.”

Subdivision (c)(2) of rule 8.66 gives the Chief Justice the power to “extend or renew” today’s order “for an additional period of . . . [n]o more than 30 days.”
