Supreme Court issues opinion rejecting Stephen Glass’s bid for admission to the Bar

As we noted last week, the Court today issued its 33-page per curiam opinion in In re Glass on Admission, the bar admission proceeding concerning disgraced former journalist Stephen Glass.  Unsurprisingly, given the tenor of the justices’ questions at the November oral argument, the Court rejected Glass’s application for admission.  The Court concluded the evidence “did not establish that [Glass] engaged in truly exemplary conduct over an extended period,” and that “he has not sustained his heavy burden of demonstrating rehabilitation and fitness for the practice of law.”

Practice note:  Per curiam opinions are common in bar admission cases.   However, the Court recently issued signed opinions in In re Garcia on Admission and In re Grant on Discipline.
