Alexandra Applegate reports in today’s Daily Journal about the California Supreme Court Historical Society‘s annual awards in the Selma Moidel Smith Law Student Writing Competition.  [Disclosure:  I serve on the Society’s board.]  As required by the competition rules, the first and second place papers are about California legal history, but they were written by law students from the University of Richmond and from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
