Merrill Balassone reports in a Judicial Council news release that Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye today “announced a new work group to update a judicial standard that outlines steps courts can take to prohibit bias in courtroom proceedings.” (Link added.)
The group follows July action by the Judicial Council in approving a report by another work group, the Work Group for the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment.
The new group — Work Group to Enhance Administrative Standards Addressing Bias in Court Proceedings — will be led by Fifth District Court of Appeal Presiding Justice Brad Hill and Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Stacy Boulware Eurie, and it will include as members one other Court of Appeal justice, two other superior court judges, a superior court executive officer, and two attorneys.
