Tomorrow morning, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in People v. Chhoun, the first decision in a case argued on the December calendar.  (Briefs here; oral argument video here.)  Opinions in two of the other three December cases are expected by March 1.  The decision in one of the cases — People v. Wilson — should be filed by April 12 because submission of the matter was delayed for the completion of supplemental briefing.  (Generally, see here.)

All December cases had a Court of Appeal justice sitting pro tem.

Chhoun is an automatic direct appeal from a January 2000 judgment of death.  The court’s website does not list issues for those cases.  Counsel was appointed in September 2005.  Briefing was completed in July 2016.  Second District, Division Five, Justice Dorothy Kim is the pro tem.

The opinion can be viewed tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m.
