Ellis, recognized as the “Dean of the California Appellate bar” by Chambers & Partners, was the first inductee into the California Lawyers Association’s Appellate Lawyer Hall of Fame.  Ellis is partner emeritus of Horvitz & Levy LLP, the firm he cofounded in 1957 which continues today as a leader in California appellate litigation. . . .  Ellis will discuss some highlights of his legal career including a clerkship with California Chief Justice Phil Gibson, the creation of the appellate litigation practice in California, notable successes before the California Supreme Court, along with some insight into Ellis’s unique approach to appellate practice.
