On December 21, in San Francisco, the Commission on Judicial Appointments will hold a hearing and decide whether to confirm Joshua Groban for a seat on the Supreme Court.  (Spoiler alert:  Groban will be confirmed.)  This is the last step before Groban joins the court.  Governor Jerry Brown one week ago announced his intention to appoint Groban.

The Commission members are Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, and senior Court of Appeal Presiding Justice Anthony Kline.  Decades ago, Kline served as Governor Brown’s chief aide on judicial appointments, the position Groban now occupies.

The Commission’s proceedings are expected to be live streamed on its website.
