On Monday morning, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in People v. Waldon. (Briefs here; oral argument video here.)

This will be the second opinion in the four cases argued in November. Opinions in the other two cases should file by January 30.

Waldon has been on the court’s docket for over 30 years. It’s an automatic direct appeal from a February 1992 judgment of death. The court’s website does not list issues for death penalty appeals. Counsel was appointed in December 1995. Main briefing was completed in August 2015. Excluding relatively short supplemental briefs, the parties three briefs total almost 1,400 pages.

The opinion can be viewed Monday starting at 10:00 a.m.
