Over the weekend, the State Bar announced there had been what it called an “inadvertent[ ] premature[ ]” disclosure to certain law school deans of the general subjects of portions of the bar exam, which is scheduled to start tomorrow. To “level the playing field,” the Bar then emailed the information to all test takers.
Today, the Supreme Court called the disclosure “inappropriate” and announced it “will ensure that there is a thorough and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disclosure, and that appropriate steps are taken to protect the integrity of the bar examination and identify and address any consequences.” One of the court’s non-case-related duties is overseeing the admission of lawyers in the state.
