Cheryl Miller reports in The Recorder:  “A conservative political group has sought and received state judiciary documents related to Leondra Kruger’s 2014 nomination to California’s Supreme Court, a sign that potential opponents are eyeing her as a possible nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court or other high-level appointment in the Biden administration.”

The documents include “numerous letters of recommendation from former colleagues at the U.S. Department of Justice as well as the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation’s finding that she was ‘exceptionally well qualified’ to serve on the state’s high court.  Among the records, too, was a questionnaire that asked about her view on the law, past courtroom experiences and hobbies.”

The article also says “Kruger has rebuffed all public attempts to gauge her interest in the [U.S. Supreme Court] job, most recently telling those attending a public webinar on eliminating bias in the justice system that she was flattered by the question but not going to answer it.”
